Kieboom, Albert July 11, 1929 – Sept 8, 2017

Albert Kieboom, beloved husband of Mrs. Adriana (Mayo) Kieboom of

Lacombe, Alberta passed away on Friday, September 8, 2017 surrounded by his family, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital at the age of 88 years. He married his beloved wife in Hilversum, Holland in 1955. Albert and Mayo immigrated to Canada in 1958 with two children, initially residing in Calgary. A third child was born to them in 1960. They resided in Calgary for several years and then relocated to Millarville, Blackfalds and Creston, eventually settling in Lacombe. Albert was a successful and ambitious entrepreneur, founder of Carpet Colour Centre and Carpet Mart in Red Deer and the Blackfalds Nursery. He was passionate about his family, tennis, sailing, gardening, aquariums and wine making. He is survived by his wife of 62 years and his children, son Yost (Jamie) Kieboom, and daughters Alma Taylor and Sheila (Daryl) Southwick as well as nine grandchildren; Jessica (Jeff) Mix, Travis (Ashley) Kieboom, Kyle (Kim) Ibbotson, Karla (Ryan) Takasaki, Cody (Sara) Ibbotson, Vanessa (Matt) Stobart, Steven Kieboom, Courtney (Scott Kreiser) Kieboom, Colten Southwick and six great grandchildren; Paisley, Alivia, Carter, Jaxton, Dax, and Emilee. He is sadly missed by his sister Riet (Kees) Salwegter, sister in-law Ieneke Koolbergen, brother in-law Gerrit Reiche and the rest of his extended family in Holland. The family would like to express special thanks to the caring staff in Moments at Aspen Ridge, Red Deer and especially to Mary, Jinky and Stephanie. As well, the family would like to thank the nurses and staff in unit 21 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital, especially Dr. Kauchali and Dr. Russell and nurses Wendy, Allison, Brenda, Winston and Joe. If desired, Memorial Donations in Albert’s honour may be made directly to a charity of the donor’s choice.

A memorial service will be held at Wilson’s Funeral Chapel in Lacombe Friday September 15 at 2 PM.
