Donald Melford Heistad

Donald Melford Heistad was born in Veteran AB on April 23, 1931 to Joe and Hedvig Heistad.  He resided in Blackfalds, Bentley and Lacombe for most of his life.  Don married Hazel Boettger on December 27, 1956 and they just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.  Don passed away on September 16, 2017 in the Lacombe Hospital while surrounded by family.

Don is survived by his loving wife, Hazel; four daughters, Lynn (Murrough) Quiding, Wanda (Dale) McNaught, Joanne (Terry) McNaught and Debbie Heistad; son-in-law, Clark Merkus; thirteen grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Donna (Paul) Petry; brothers-in-law, Larry (May) Boettger, Glen (Cathy) Boettger, Blane (Denise) Boettger; sister-in-law, Pearl Boettger; one aunt, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. Don was predeceased by his parents; brother, Arnold; and daughter, Vicki Merkus.

A Celebration of Don’s Life will be held at Wilson’s Funeral Chapel, 6120 Hwy 2A, Lacombe AB on Friday, September 22, 2017 at 1:00 p.m.  A family burial will be held prior at Gull Lake Cemetery.
