James Vance Spurr

It is with great sadness that the family of James “Jim” Vance Spurr announce his passing on March 7, 2018 at the age of 59 years, following a long battle with cancer.

Jim was born in Middleton, Nova Scotia on April 9, 1958 to parents Phillip and Delma Spurr (née Durling). He left Annapolis Valley at the age of 18 years to pursue an oilfield career in Alberta. There he met and fell in love with Della and her girls Jennifer Healey and Lisa Healey. Jim and Della were married on April 5, 1986 in Aylesford, Nova Scotia, and their family became whole with the births of Cody Spurr and Jordan Spurr.

Jim loved his family, and worked many years in the oilfield industry to provide for them. He enjoyed camping, watching the Blue Jays play, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived, and will be remembered with love and pride, by his wife Della and their dog Maya, as well as their children Jennifer (Andrew Henry); Lisa (Kyle Westman); Cody (Jenny Spurr); and Jordan (Sarah Murray); and, grandchildren Savannah Healey and Brooklyn Healey.

He also leaves to mourn his sister Brenda Price (Harry Price) and brother Phillip “Wayne” Spurr (Bonnie Spurr); father-in-law George Meier (Kay Meier); sister-in-law Kathy Zimmermann (Tony Zimmermann) and brother-in-law Dale Meier; and, numerous nieces and nephews.

Jim is predeceased by his parents Phillip and Delma, and his sister Shirley-Ann Spurr.
