Joan Esther Glass (Dahms)

Joan Glass of Lacombe, Alberta passed away peacefully on November 22, 2016 at the age of 78 years. Born in Westaskiwin, Alberta to Ernest & Josephine Dahms. She was the youngest of four siblings and grew up on the family farm in the Fertile Forest District.

Joan moved to Meadowbrook District after her marriage to Gary Riley, where she raised her family and helped with the farm. She enjoyed showing and caring for her horses as well as volunteering as a leader for the Ponoka 4-H Horse Club.

Joan married Ron Glass in 1981 and they spent their years together living in their beautiful yard on the farm. Joan loved being outdoors, tending the yard, garden and bird feeders. She enjoyed playing golf with Ron and they also had many fun adventures in their motorhome.

Joan is survived by her Children Lyall (Cathy) Riley, Koreen Riley, Bruce (Brenda) Riley, Kelvin (Debbie) Riley, Brent Riley and Bill (Shirley) Glass; Grandchildren Kevin Riley, Matthew Riley, Charlotte Cummings, Katie Cummings, Lynnsey (Andrew) Riley, Chelsey (Sean) Butcher, Brad (Kaitlyn) Riley and Breann Bruce; Great-Grandchildren Sloane, Marshall and Brielle; brothers Gerald (Marg) Dahms and Fredric Dahms; brother-in-law Lee Bamber; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and innumerable friends.

Joan was predeceased by her husband Ron Glass, daughter Sue Sherrer and sister Bertha Bamber.

A celebration of Joan’s life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday January 07, 2017 at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 66 (3911 AB-2A, Ponoka, AB).

A special thanks to the continuing care staff at the Lacombe Hospital.
