SCHIEWE, Norman F.

Sept. 14, 1935 – Feb. 13, 2017

Norman Schiewe passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 13, 2017 at the Lacombe Long Term Care Facility.  He was born at Rosenfeld, Manitoba to Julius and Gertrude Schiewe. He was educated at Hopeful Valley Elementary School and Morris High School. Norman was employed by the Toronto Dominion Bank and the Alberta Treasury Branch.  Norman was a Lions Club member for 30 years, a volunteer for the Ponoka Wheelchair Van Society and an advocate for the SPCA.  He enjoyed photography and took many photos of nature and family.  Norman took great pride in his stamp and coin collections and photo albums.  He was a huge fan of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Toronto Blue Jays or any sport that his grandchildren or great grandchildren played.  Norman was very much a family man and truly enjoyed spending the holidays with those he loved. His contagious smile and witty humor will be missed by all who knew him.  He leaves to mourn daughters, Marie (Phil) Engele of Lacombe and Cheryl (Pete) Livingstone of Edmonton; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Brian) Mazurkewich & children Dylan (Kathy) & Carson, Christine Huchkowski & children Daniel (Jessica), Amanda & Hailey, Colin (Chasidy) Engele & children Jasmine, Bailey & Kaydance, Pam (Chris) Watts & children Jayde, Santana & Chance, Samantha (Cody) Russell & children Cole & Lincoln and P.J. (Randi) Livingstone; sister, Margaret Carlson of Winnipeg; nephews, Steven and Grant Carlson; niece, Cheryl Redwood; as well as numerous extended family and friends. Norman was predeceased by his parents, brother-in-law Ed Carlson, and by his loving wife, Margaret in August 2006.  We would like to thank the staff at the Lacombe Long Term Care and Dr. Halse of Ponoka for their care and attention.  At Norman’s request, no funeral service will be held.

In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to: Ponoka Wheelchair Van Society or your local SPCA.
