I was so sorry to hear about the passing of your mom. I only knew her through her children who gave her great joy! I will remember her as a lady with a wonderful welcoming smile, a special energy, a real zest for living, and the ability to always make me appreciate how great it was to be in the teaching profession! A special lady.

Tom, Ann, and Jean, I was very sad to hear of the passing of your wonderful mother. She was truly a beautiful lady with a beautiful soul. I knew her all my life. She was a big part of my life growing up in Lacombe, and our families were close. The Jarmoluk and Kaufmann families lived on the same street, so as kids, my brother Grant and I were always playing with Tom, Paul, Ann, and Jean in each others' homes. Your mom was like a second mother to us. My family was also part of the congregation at St. Stephen's Catholic Parish. I remember your mother teaching catechism classes and leading choir and youth groups. My father, Leon, worked with your father, at the Canada Agriculture Research Station in Lacombe, so our families attended all the same social functions at the "Experimental Farm" (as we called it when we were kids). Our families often got together for dinners, birthday parties, and family outings. I have many more great memories of your mother, as she was a great person. My life was enriched for having known her. May you cherish all the memories you have of her and hold them in your hearts forever!

Ruth Ann represented the best of Canadian and American spirit that will be missed by many from near and far. The wonderful messages on her memorial page from longtime friends and neighbors shows how positive she was for the community. She was a special aunt to all of us here in Wisconsin and the Midwest, and will be in our hearts Monday and long after. Watching the Olympics also reminds me of her in my excitement for both American and Canadian success. Blessings to the Kaufmanns and everyone she touched.

Our sympathy to Ruth's family, most of whom we met while living in the same condo as Ruth & Martin. I first met Ruth while my mother, Dorothy Michener , was living at Lacombe Extended Care Center. Ruth came once a week to read to the residents.
A few years later the Kaufmann's and my husband Garold and I moved into Lacombe Place Condominium about the same time. It was a privilege to know her. Ruth was a real LADY and always had a smile on her face and a positive attitude. She will be missed by all who knew her.

I only joined the parish about 2 years ago..... but your mom never forgot my name. I how I loved her so. She was so saucy! I made her a red coral rosary for her 97th birthday and her eyes lit up for it (always red). It was has an honour to join her to join her this year for her birthday at the legion. I will wear red for her service :) She would chew me out if I didn't.
I will miss you Ruth.... but we shall meet again :)

To the Kaufmann Family:
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your mother. She was a beautiful lady. I first met her when my girls started performing in the Lacombe and District Music Festival around 2000. She was always involved in the vocal categories, usually as platform marshal. She came to be a favorite of mine and my girls. My last interaction with her was at last year's music festival Grand Concert. We had a very pleasant conversation. She will be sorely missed by me and the community as a whole. May God grant you peace and happy memories of your mother.

We were privileged to visit with your mom on December 22. It was wonderful to reminisce about 49th Avenue. She told me that she kept up with the neighbourhood by keeping the kitchen window open when we were in the sandbox. It was nice to hear her memories of my mom too. That is something I haven’t heard in many years.

She was a special lady with a great sense of humour. She told me I was better than pills. Please know that we share in your loss.

We all thought Aunt Ruth was indestructible. Like the Energizer Bunny, she would go on for ever. But now she has left us to join Martin and many of the departed Zimmer family. Heaven will never be the same. only better. Ruth was quick to say she believed in love and spread her brand of love to everyone who entered her life. I will miss those lunches we had at the Diner in Lacombe. Our conversations covered so many topics. Rest in peace, Ruth, you may be gone but never forgotten. Doug Heaton, Sherwood Park.

What an incredible life your Mom had! She was such a spark of love and goodness in our community. Every time I bumped into Ruth at the LMC, or elsewhere in Lacombe, we always had a great chat and I was always amazed by her resilience. The last time we chatted, she was celebrating her birthday, and joyfully said "Guess how old I am?!" Of course I said 28, and we had a good chuckle. I will miss Ruth, her beautiful smile and cheeky sense of humor.

Much love to you all, and I hope you will continue to celebrate her in your memories. Maureen

Ruth will be sadly missed , I only new her for a short time as we just moved her 4 years ago but her involvement with the Catholic Womens League is well know as she served as president a number of times.
