Spencer Sidney Thompson

It is with sadness we announce the sudden passing of Spencer Sidney Thompson of Lacombe, Alberta. Spencer was born in Edmonton, Alberta on May 17, 1955 and passed away March 17, 2017 in Lacombe.  He leaves to mourn his father, Greg Thompson (Gaile Dupuis) of Surrey BC; brother, Elliott Larson (Francie Lorren) of Calgary; aunt, Wilma (Murray) Carry of Cranbrook, B.C.; cousins, Wendy and Kevin; dear friends, Rob and Colette Burnham of Lacombe and family; along with many friends in many places. Spencer was predeceased by his mother Lois Thompson and brother Leslie Mortimer.

Spencer grew up in Jasper, Alberta and spent much of his life in the bush and wilds of the mountains. On horseback or on foot, he developed a lifelong love for nature, camping and animals.  He was especially fond of cats and had many throughout his lifetime. Spencer was blessed with a large, kind and gentle heart - a heart that would give whatever it could to those it loved or who were less fortunate than he. He was a friend to all and enjoyed conversations and sharing his feelings about life with friends or strangers.  Spencer will be greatly missed on the streets and in the businesses of Lacombe.  Thank you for your care and inclusion of this wonderful man we call friend.

Funeral services for Spencer will be at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Lacombe (4049 - 63 Avenue) on Friday, March 24th, 2017 at 12:00 pm.  Interment to follow in the Lacombe Cemetery.

To the many wonderful workers at Mental Health in Lacombe, the Lacombe Foundation, the Sunrise Club in Ponoka, and Drs. Shahoo and Darnell--THANK YOU SO MUCH for your kind friendship and assistance in caring for Spencer.
