CABELKA, Ruth
March 26, 1931 – July 15, 2010

Ruth Cabelka passed away peacefully at the Bentley Care Centre on July 15, 2010 at the age of 79. Ruth was born at Assiniboia, Sask., the daughter of Peder and Magda Thompson. Ruth will be lovingly remembered by her husband Fred; daughters Barb Oglestone (Ken), Cathi Bishop (Greg), and Carol Bayley (Ellery); granddaughters Heather, Susan and Adrienne; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Marvin. Ruth was predeceased by an infant son, Jonathan. Ruth worked in the post office at Lake Louise, Bentley and Stettler before marrying Fred Cabelka on Sept. 16, 1975. She was a wonderful wife, companion and homemaker. Until her health began to fail, Ruth’s interests included gardening, sewing, cycling, camping and swimming. Ruth was also an accomplished weaver, an art she took up in retirement. She was a member of the Hand Weavers, Spinners and Dyers of Alberta and enjoyed attending conferences and workshops in many locations. Many thanks to the staff and volunteers at Bentley Care Centre for the kindness and respect shown to Ruth during the past few years. If friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Bentley Care Centre Box 30 Bentley, AB T0C 0J0 or the charity of the donors choice. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 from Wilson's Funeral Chapel 6120 highway 2A Lacombe at 2:00 P.M.
