Margaret Valerie Elizabeth Briere
1953 – 2010
It is with great sadness that the family of Margaret Briere of Lacombe, Alberta announces her passing away peacefully at the age of 57 years old after fighting a hard battle with cancer at the Lacombe Hospital in the loving embrace of her husband Brian on Saturday July 17th, 2010 at 8:00am. Margaret was born on January 19th, 1953 in Acle, Norfolk, England. She was born one of 12 children to Olive and Robert Curtis. At the age of 16 she sat aboard a motorcycle with her soon to be husband Brian and they rode off into their future. Their life together, married 40 years, carried them all over the world, living in countries throughout Europe, Africa, The Middle East and The Far East. In 1986, they settled in Lacombe where they opened a Radio Shack. By this time Margaret and Brian were blessed with two beautiful girls, Nichole and Melissa. Margaret enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and all that it had to offer. She offered unconditional love and generosity to everyone she know. As a young lady growing up she worked at a flower shop in England. This passion she carried with her and throughout her life. She was a very crafty person whom loved to cook and arrange her own flowers.
Margaret is survived by her husband Brian, her daughters Nichole Clarke (husband Craig) and Melissa O’Lane (husband Erin). Four Grandchildren, Carlin and Jacob, Mya and Casen, her siblings Berty (nickname Tibby), Joy, Alan, Ann, Brian, Josey, Nigel and Sandra. Margaret was predeceased by her first daughter Michele Ann, her father in law Albert Joseph Briere and her siblings, Leonard (Patsy), David, Patrick and parents, Olive and Robert.
Please join us in celebrating the woman who has touched our lives and our hearts. A service celebrating Margaret’s life will be held on Friday July 23rd @ 2:00 pm, at the Wilson’s Funeral Chapel, 6120 hwy 2A, Lacombe Alberta.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Margaret’s memory may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society, 4730A Ross Street, Red Deer, AB, T4N 1X2 or to the Diabetes Association #6 5015-48th Street Red Deer, Alberta T4N 1S9.
