Mom was born March 21, 1925 near Clive. Her parents Harry and Iva (nee Hudkins) Cramer had immigrated with their families from Nebraska and Michigan and settled in the Clive/Tees area where they lived. The family later moved to Lac La Biche where Polly spent most of her teenage years.
She was one of six children of Harry and Iva, all of whom predeceased her. She married Lowell Shoup on Feb 12, 1947, settled in the Eclipse area (Lacombe County near Clive) and raised seven children.
Two children predeceased her: Dale in 1976 and Lois in 1987. Her surviving children are: Beverly Wheeler-Davidson of Joffre, Faye and Steve Koscielny of Vernon, BC, Debra and Darrell Hatt of Delburne, Mark and Tracy Shoup of Stony Plain and Deanna Shoup of Red Deer. There are twelve grand-children, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and a sister in-law; Dorothy Cramer of Calgary. A grand-daughter Kathy Wheeler passed away in 2016.
Polly worked for over fifteen years as a cook at Juniper Lodge North of Lacombe but mostly stayed at home and enjoyed a quiet country life. Lowell predeceased her in 1988. Polly lived on the farm (which was later subdivided to an acreage) from the time she married until the day she passed away which was her wish.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Wilson's Funeral Chapel on Tuesday August 21, 2018 at 1:00pm.
