David Reitsma

October 24, 1932 - August 19, 2019 

David Reitsma passed away August 19, 2019  with family by his side in the Lacombe Long Term Care Centre.  David was born October 24, 1932  in Cubbard, Friesland.  He came to Canada with his parents in 1938.    They resided in the Woodynook area.  In 1957 he married the love of his life Emma.  They started a dairy farm on the Asplund Road with 7 cows.  In 1958 they moved to the dairy farm on Highway 12 where they milked until 1977 when they retired from the dairy.  They enjoyed many miles of traveling where they helped in DRS, and their stay in their home away from home in Sky Valley.

He will be lovingly remembered by his family:  Rose (John) and their children Carrie (Neil and their children Julie and Ian), Robin (Kristy with their son Cole), Amy (Des and their daughters Ava, Hailey and Tayiah); Barbara (Mike) with their sons David (Amanda), Steven (Rosanne) and Paul); Connie (with her children Heather (Marcel and their children Audrey and Isaac), Tyler, and Ashley (David); Susan (Gerald) and their children Kelsey, Wyatt (Shea and daughter Kenzlee), Owen (Karley), Dana (Nathan) and Merle. Along with numerous nieces and nephews and many special friends.

He is also survived by his siblings John (Irene) Reitsma, Tetsy Mulder, Art (Gladys) Reitsma, Sister-In-Law Ruth Reitsma, Frank (Carm) Reitsma, and Irene (Dave) Baker.

He was pre-deceased by his parents George in 1971 and Alice in 2001.  Brother-In-Law John Mulder in 1997, brother Mike Reitsma in 2017 and son-in-law Cor deBoon in 2018.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, August 23, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Christian Reformed Church, 5704 51 Ave, Lacombe, AB T4L 1K8.
