Deanna "Dee Dee" Vivian (Solberg) Kanigan

Deanna passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children and grandchildren at the age of 77 years.

She is survived by her children, Sharon (Rick) Gale, Pat (Ken) Kasserman, Doug Kanigan and Kelly (Greg) Diewert; grandchildren, Mallory (Alex), Drew (Emma), Kris, Ryland, Cody, Jessica (Kody), Connor, Taylor and Paige; and one great-grandchild, Harlyn. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Kanigan in 1990; and her special friend, Howard Busby in 2010.

Deanna was born in Hubbard, Saskatchewan to Hartwick “Huck” and Vera Solberg (nee Pallister). Their family had lived in Creston and Victoria, British Columbia and Leduc, Alberta before settling in Edmonton. She had many fond memories with all of her siblings, nieces and nephews at the Solberg home in Edmonton's Riverdale neighborhood.

Throughout her life, Deanna had made many life-long friends while raising her family in Conquest, Saskatchewan and during her later years in Clive and Lacombe, Alberta. She enjoyed family get-togethers, telephone chats with distant friends and family, and participating in a variety of activities at Royal Oak Manor.

Deanna’s family would like to thank the kind people at Royal Oak Manor, and the staff and doctors at the Lacombe Hospital for their care and compassion.

At Deanna’s request, she will be laid to rest with Walter in Verigin, Saskatchewan in a private service in the summer.
