Emily Charlene Schultz (nee Lawrence) was born October 10, 1959 in Edmonton, Alberta. She passed away November 1, 2017 in Red Deer, Alberta after a brave battle against cancer at the age of 58 years. Charlene (as was her chosen name) was surrounded by her loving family as she passed.

Charlene was always a vibrant and loving Wife, Mother, and her latest role as a Grandmother. Her family was everything to her and she was always participating in their lives whenever possible. She was always seen attending the School Events, Sporting Events or Concerts in which her children, or especially her Grandchildren, were participating. Charlene was a huge sports fan and was a good bowler, ball player and even coached her children in their youth.  Another passion for Charlene was cooking for Special Occasions and Holidays for all her family. Birthdays were always geared towards favourite dishes for the special occasion. Her pies were the best we ever knew. Another favourite for the Grandchildren was her pancakes, which she always made when a “sleepover” presented itself.

She had helped her husband, Ron, with an Elk Ranch adventure which lasted 25 years and one in which she truly enjoyed.  She made a great ranchers wife, and midwife to any babies requiring assistance. It always broke her heart if she couldn’t save one and she spent many of her summers close to home because there was a baby requiring her special attention. One baby elk will always hold a special place in our hearts “Andy” who adopted us as his parents and lived to be 16 years of age before passing away from old age for an elk. Many tears were shed for him then because he was a family member and quite the local celebrity. There latest adventure was raising horses.

Another thing Charlene and Ron enjoyed was renting a car and touring the USA - she and Ron had toured approx. 35 States by car, checking out points of interest or just enjoying the scenery. Often putting on thousands of kms per week, stopping if something warranted further investigation.

Charlene is survived by her Husband, Ron - in her words, her “High School Sweetheart” of 38 years; Children, Darcey Schultz (Leila), and Shannon Schultz (Doug); Grandsons Seth and Jared Gecse, Lincoln Schultz; Granddaughters Haley and Avery North.  She is also survived by her Father, Elebert Lawrence (Shelley); and Sisters, Linda Lamorie (Jack) of Ontario, Bernadette Rayner (David) of Edmonton, Caroline Geddes (Scott) of Edmonton, Fern Wieling (Don) of Millet; numerous Special Nieces and Nephews; and many dear Friends. She was predeceased by her Mother, Millie Lawrence; and Brother, Doug Lawrence.

A Funeral Service will be held at the Rimbey Community Centre on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 1:00 p.m., with a private family interment to follow at Bradshaw Cemetery.
