SAYERS, George Allan

February 7, 1948 to June 28, 2017

The family announces with profound sadness the passing of Allan at the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute at the age of 69 years.  Allan was born in Lacombe to George and Betty Sayers, the only son and middle child, and raised on the family farm north of Tees.

Allan travelled the province, first on the rigs and later as a heavy equipment operator, building roads and pipelines.  During down times, Allan enjoyed picking up odd jobs and his woodworking shop.  What he enjoyed more than anything else was trading stories over coffee with friends and strangers.  Allan retired in 2011, eager to spend time with grandkids and just be at home.

Allan was an active member of the Clive community as a volunteer in various organizations.  He was cherished as a loving and supportive husband, father, and friend and will be deeply missed by all.  The family would like to give special thanks to the wonderful staff at the Mazankowski for the exceptional care and kindness they gave Allan during his stay.

Allan will be missed and remembered by his loving wife Avis, son Darin, daughter Denise and son-in-law Darren Unwin, 2 grandchildren Tanner & Rylee.  He is predeceased by his parents George and Betty Sayers and remembered by sisters Joyce Anderson (John) and Marie Brian (Stewart), many extended family, as well as lots of friends.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, July 7 at the Clive Baptist Church at 11 am.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke or Kidney Foundations.
