Hilje Bromling

1925 – 2019

It is with heavy hearts the family of HILJE BROMLING (OMA) announces her peaceful passing on Thursday August 8, 2019 at the age of 93 at Lacombe Continuing Care.

Hilje was born on October 17, 1925 to Kornelius and Elisabeth Bouwsema in Emmen, Netherlands.

Immigrating to Canada in 1958; Hilje met and later married the love of her life, Curtis Bromling, on November 30, 1962. They were blessed with one son, Clint and one daughter, Elisabeth. Together Curtis and Hilje farmed in the Eckville area until their retirement. Hilje resided at the family farm until the age of 91.

Throughout Hilje’s life, she enjoyed travelling to see her family and friends, many happy memories were made on these trips that they will cherish. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren, always following their activities. Swimming, gardening, journaling, and needlepoint were a few of her hobbies.

Hilje was a devout Christian, active in various ladies and bible study groups throughout her life.

Hilje will be lovingly remembered by her son, Clint (Donna), her daughter Elisabeth; 5 grandchildren, Kurtis (Jess), Keeley, Kameron, Marley, and Gracey and one great-granddaughter, Mya.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday August 20, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Rimbey Christian Reformed Church, 5501 51 Ave, Rimbey, AB T0C 2J0, with interment to follow in the Eckville Cemetery.
