FRANCIS, Joan Esme'

1924 - 2019

On June 14, 2019, Joan Esme Francis age 94 of Rimbey Alberta passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Continuing Care Facility.

Joan was happily married to Lyle for 64 years who passed away May 5, 2011 at the age of 87.

She is lovingly remembered by Daughter Betty Lynn (Bob Blackmore) Grandchildren: Dan (Ali), Ryan (Amanda–Great grandchildren, Ryah and Kherington), Jill, Jo-Ann, Son Bill (Sheila) Grandchildren: Justin, (Dana Lynn: (Craig Jessiman): Great Grandchild Tesla),

Joan was predeceased by her parents, Hugh Walter Harbord, Winifred Nora (Beeching), and Siblings:  Sylvia (Smith), Kenneth, and Walter.

Joan was born July 28, 1924 in Watrous Sask.  After leaving the farm she joined the Air Force at the age of 18 and served to the age of 21.  She married Lyle Francis on June 14th, 1947.

They lived in Landis Sask. in 1948 and later Watrous Sask. 1949 where they purchased their first home and Betty was born.  They later moved to Redwater, Alta. and then Wetaskiwin Alta.  In 1956 they moved to Mulhurst, Alta. (Bonnie Glen Gas Plant) in 1958 Bill was born and in 1972 they moved to Rimbey Alta.

Joan was actively involved with the Rimbey United Church, Legion, and the Northern Star.  Joan enjoyed singing in the church choir, playing bridge, volunteering for the Church, Legion, community events. Joan lovebirds, dogs, flowers and her gardening.

A celebration of life will be held at the Rimbey United Church on June 20, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.  Interment of Joan’s cremated remains will occur at a later date in the Wetaskiwin cemetery
