Joan Elizabeth Francis (Bottomley) Handford

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joan Handford (Bottomley). She was called home to the Lord on Thursday August 9,2018. Joan was born to Jim and Eileen Bottomley of Calgary and grew up west of Lacombe at Gull Lake.  She was one of four children, a sister to Carol (John) Meyer, Merle Doherty, Joyce Bradford.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Doug, her children Stephanie (Greg) Harink - Chris and Brett Scriven, Stephen (Wendy) Ward - Jenessa, Lucas, AJ, Shawn (Deanne) Ward - Grayson and Mickel. As well as numerous nieces and nephews.  

Mom enjoyed spending time with her family and cherished her grandchildren, whether it was cheering them on in the sports or a family get together, being with her family made her happy.  She loved the water and being at the lake at the family cottage. After her parents moved to town she still spent numerous summers at the lake.

A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate Joan’s Life on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Home Church 37557 HWY 2A Red Deer County, AB T4E 1S2. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations can be made to Home Of Hope at www.HomeofHope.ca a charity that was very dear to Mom’s heart.
