Joan G. Speers (formerly Hutchinson) of Red Deer, AB, and previously of Lacombe, AB passed away peacefully on June 23, 2018 at the age of 88.
Joan was born to Guy and Enid Fraser of Edmonton and grew up in the Strathcona area. She was one of five children, a sister to Harold, Jack, Peggy and Bob and was the last remaining member of her family.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Gerry Speers; children, Barb Frith (Steve), Brenda Booth (Dale), Ian Hutchinson, Peggy Rivera (Julio), Quinn Kuefler (Patti); stepchildren, Lorraine Askin (Brian), Pat Taylor (Tom), Donna Buchanan (Dave), Graham Speers (Variyan) and Sandra Darby (Ted). Her many grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life and held a special place in her heart. Joan was predeceased by her first husband, Bill Hutchinson; daughter, Jan; and stepdaughter, Barbara.
Joan had very fulfilling life. She spent endless hours at the cottage, golfing, hiking, and later in life travelling. A Celebration of Joan’s Life and Memorial Tea will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, July 3rd at the Burbank Hall (head east on Highway 597 at the traffic circle by Blackfalds and follow the sign to the Burbank Campground) and will provide us an opportunity to remember all these great times.
