It is with heavy hearts and much love that we announce the passing of John Busaan at the age of 73 years. John is survived by his loving wife, Wilma, sister Dorothy, stepsister Audrey, children Jody (Dave), Jon (Jennifer), Lorin (Stephanie), Jaclyn (Monica), grandchildren Andrew, Nathan, Corinne, and Erin, extended family and an abundance of friends. He is predeceased by his parents John and Tena, stepfather Frank, and sister Wilma.
John loved life on the farm and especially spending time with his entire family. He enjoyed all the family gatherings with his children and grandchildren around, particularly camping trips when the whole family joined in. He also loved the larger family reunions and meeting up with cousins far and wide.
John had many interests, but the greatest was farming, constantly with a keen eye on the weather. Always an organizer and wanting to be productive, he was very generous with his time. He participated extensively throughout the community and was very active in Woodynook church. He worked in many areas including teaching, mixed farming, truck driving, Pik-N-Pak Produce, and the Development Appeal Board for County of Lacombe. He also volunteered for charitable work in Nicaragua and Dominican Republic, but still managed to invent new careers like shed construction on the side. There was no reason to procrastinate if something could be done now.
John loved nature, enjoying the birds from the kitchen window, perpetually replenishing the bird feeder and competing with neighbours Jaclyn and Monica regarding who had the greatest variety of birds visiting their homes. He loved fishing with Wilma in the summer and ice fishing with her in winter, albeit in separate huts. John was a very compassionate person and would help anyone, wherever needed. He enjoyed travelling with Wilma to New Zealand, Turkey, Denmark, Hawaii, the Netherlands and other locations, always having a special appreciation for the different landscapes and the people working the land. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
The funeral will be held on Friday, August 30th, 2019 at 2:00 pm in Woodynook Christian Reformed Church, followed by light refreshments. Memorial donations can be made to Central Alberta Christian High School.
