Klaas Boskers

Klaas Boskers passed away at the Royal Oak Manor in Lacombe, Alberta on October 4th, 2018 at the age of 94 years.  His family rejoices he is now with his Lord and Savior and free from pain and suffering.  He was born Dec. 18, 1923 in Onstwedde, Gr., in the Netherlands.  On Feb 25, 1947 he married Jacoba (“Coby”) Pouw and in June of that year immigrated to Canada on the first boat following WWII.  They landed in Lacombe at the Arie Kievit place on July 1st.  During the early years they worked on farms and Klaas also piled lumber during the winter in Rocky Mountain House.  In 1959 they purchased a farm south east of Clive where they established a mixed farm with dairy, hogs and crops.  In 1988 they retired to the acreage just north of Lacombe.  He was predeceased by his first wife and mother of his children, Coby in August of 1990.   He married Nelly Zuidhof in May 1992 who passed away unexpectedly in March of 2002.  In April 2003 he married Elisabeth Kikstra (Coby’s sister).  Klaas is survived by his loving wife Elisabeth (Lies), 9 Children:  Pauline (Peter) Mooy; Harm (Joyce) Boskers, Case (Jan) Boskers; Margaret (Garry) DeVries; Joanne (Richard) DeVries; Royce (Pietie) Boskers, Floyd (JoAnn) Boskers, Linda (Karl) Slomp and Elsie (John) Ellens.  As well he was blessed with 33 Grandchildren, their spouses and 70 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by one sister and two sisters in laws in the Netherlands, as well as many nieces and nephews.  The family especially wishes to thank the staff at Royal Oak Extended Care Center and Dr. Janni Prins for the wonderful and loving care they provided to Dad during the last two and a half years of his life. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday October 11, 2018 at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church, 5704 – 51 Avenue, Lacombe at 1:00 pm. A private family burial will have taken place in the Fairview Cemetery, Lacombe.
