BISWANGER, Marie Ruth

May 11, 1920 – September 16, 2017

Marie Ruth Biswanger, aged 97, of Withrow AB, passed away on September 16th, 2017 at the Rimbey Care Center.

Marie was born at Lacombe to Ruth and Ralph Evans on May 11, 1920. She went to school at Blueberry and Shady Lane. Marie married Lawrence Biswanger on July 23rd, 1939 at Sylvan Lake. She worked as the camp cook at various sawmills where her husband was a sawyer. They purchased and moved to their mixed farm at Withrow in the mid 1940s. The purchase and operation of a school bus was added in 1955. Marie and Lawrence became involved with the start of what later became Frontier Lodge near Nordegg. She was very active in the Withrow Gospel Mission, singing & playing several musical instruments. Her other activities included knitting, crocheting, tatting, fabric painting, sewing, mending, baking, canning as well as driving school bus, milking cows and raising chickens.

Marie is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Bob and Cal; a sister, Carol Garnick; a grandson, Scott Houston; and great-grandson, Rhett Deleeuw. Marie is survived by Lorraine (Bill) Houston, Larry (Aggy) Biswanger, Fern (Ken) Bradshaw, Muriel (Hector) Guzman, 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 29th, 2017 at Leslieville Hall, with Pastor Brian Allan officiating. Interment will follow at the Leslieville Cemetery.
