1942 – 2017

Mr. Raymond Duncan McLachlan passed away at the Lacombe Hospital, Lacombe AB on Sunday, November 26, 2017 in his 74th year.  Loving partner and best friend of Sandra Meredith, and her daughters, Bonnie, Sarah and Krista; cherished “Papa Ray” to Leslie, John, Alexxa and Landen.

Ray was predeceased by his mother, Lillian Helga Hendrickson (1999); father, Raymond Kerr McLachlan (2000); and sister, Eileen Leone McLachlan (2013).  Survived by his brothers, John Edward McLachlan of Kelowna, BC and James Douglas McLachlan of Calgary, AB.

A man who loved the outdoors, warm sunny days, and the beauty of the mountains and hillsides where he spent time camping, fishing and quadding.  He possessed a deep love and connection with all creatures great and small – a true expression of the man Ray was.

Ray’s sense of humour and wit was unique and often misunderstood to those who didn’t know him.  A simple, down-to-earth, ‘rustic’ man who was content with familiar everyday routine.

He loved sports of every kind – and took great pleasure in his rivalry with “His Blondie” in the East verses West.

Ray is left behind by his most faithful, ‘best ever’ best friend and walking partner, his furry, four-legged ‘Little Boy’ Baylee.

“Rest in the arms of the angels – goodbyes aren’t forever.”

A Celebration of Ray’s Life will take place on Friday, December 15, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Bentley Community Church, Pastor Greg Rathjen officiating.

An interment of Ray’s ashes will take place in the Garden Chapel Cemetery in Calgary, with his parents and sister, at a later date.
