Real "Ray" Ernest Paquette

REAL (RAY) ERNEST JOSEPH PAQUETTE let go of the grass and took his place beyond the stars on August 10, 2017 at age 70. Beloved of Sheryl, his wife of almost 50 years, he leaves a strong and loving legacy in his family– his brothers Leo (Cecile) and Ernie (Hazel); children Sherry Wardley (Murray), Lisa Yee (Phil), Leanne Jones (Pewh) and Scott Paquette; their grandchildren: Kindrie, Brydelle, Annika, Sophie, Rune, Marin and Everly; and his loyal dog Bear. He joins in Heaven his father William, mother Jeanne and brother Jils.
Retired after 30 years with Nova Chemicals Ltd, Ray loved his life: the fresh mountain air of frequent camping trips; old westerns; a good glass of wine; family meals that included fiddle music, the impromptu living room jigging of grandkids and crepes on a Sunday morning. Even cancer couldn’t dampen his courageous optimism as he actively searched for his ultimate riding horse – a Tennessee Walker with a rocking chair gait – right up until his passing at home, surrounded in peace and family on his beloved farm just outside of Alix, AB.

A Memorial Service for Ray will be held at The Big Red Barn in Lacombe, AB on August 17, 2017 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, please treat yourself to dinner with your family and raise a toast to his memory with a butter tart or slice of raisin pie. Remember: life is short, eat dessert first.
