Roy Robbins Obituary

Roy Benjamin Robbins passed away on April 02, 2018 in Palliative Care at the Lacombe Hospital and Care Center. Roy was the youngest child of Irma Patterson and his step father Bill Patterson. Roy was born in Edmonton, Alberta. He had one older brother Lloyd who predeceased him.

Roy is survived by 2 sons. David (Penny) and grandson Chad; Steve and granddaughter Hope. Roy’s wife Wilma of 53 years predeceased him in 2014.

Roy loved the outdoors, particularly the West Country and spent many years camping with his wife Wilma as well as his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed snowmobiling, quadding and sitting by the campfire. He loved walking any of the trails that were around his camping areas. He was always “up with the birds” getting started with his day.

Roy also had a great group of friends who met often on Fridays for lunch. He looked very forward to this each week and seeing all his buddies. He will be greatly missed among the group.

Roy was an amazing caregiver for Wilma for many years and then spent his past 3 years travelling in his camper van. He traveled extensively throughout Alberta, B.C. and Saskatchewan. He visited with friends and relatives along the way with no specific destination in mind. This unfortunately did not last nearly long enough as Roy lost his brief battle with cancer.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Janni Prins for his years of working with Roy to assist him with his health. We also would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses and all the staff at the Lacombe Hospital for Roy’s care. We also want to thank Sara from Homecare and Adele from Palliative Care. They were all such great resources to his family and him.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Lacombe Palliative Care Society, Box 5576 Lacombe, AB T4L 1X2 or the charity of one’s choice. In respecting Roy’s wishes, no services will be held.
