Sharon Lily Goddard

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Sharon Lily Goddard on June 13th, 2018 in Lacombe, Alberta surrounded by her family.  She will be lovingly remembered by her devoted son, Shaun (Terra); her dearly cherished grandson, Corbin; her wonderful siblings, Sandra Green, Sylvia Lague, Jack (Tina) Wallace; sister in law Sherry Wallace; numerous nieces and nephews and other family members; and many great friends. Sharon was predeceased by her parents; Jack and Anne Wallace, her husband Maxwell Goddard and her younger siblings; Jim Wallace and Sheila Fitt.

Sharon met the love of her life Maxwell Goddard and they married in January 1984, welcoming their son in December.  Shaun was her greatest accomplishment and she was always a proud Mother. 

Sharon loved school from a very early age, so it was only natural that her heart lead her to teaching.  She graduated with a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education. Her passion and love was teaching young minds and her 40 year career was spent as a Kindergarten Teacher.  She was lucky enough to teach in Fort McMurray, Chateah, Fairview and ending her career in Bon Accord, Alberta.  Through teaching, Sharon was able to shape a lot of young minds and helped to develop a strong foundation for countless students. In retirement Sharon thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family and numerous friends.  She was involved in Choir, Scottish Country Dancing, Senior Bowling and Coffee Time.  She always enjoyed a game of cards or crib, a fun craft; especially with her Grandson and a good cup of tea. 

Sharon was a very devoted Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and Friend. She wore her heart on her sleeve and offered her love freely to those that surrounded her.  She always saw the good in everyone and hoped that her influence helped people be the best they could be. She will always be fondly remembered for her contagious smile, positive attitude, gentle touch and the saying "fiddle sticks”.

The family would like to send a huge thank you to the Palliative Care Team in Lacombe for making Sharon comfortable and loved in her final months. It meant the world to us.

A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate Sharon's Life on Wednesday, June 20th, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Wilson's Funeral Chapel. Private Family Interment will be held at a later date. The family expresses their gratitude for your kindness evidenced in thought, word and deed. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Lacombe Palliative Care Society (Box 5576, Lacombe, AB T4L 1X2).
