Suzan Sturgeon Obituary

An artist and Western Horse aficionado, Suzan passed after a lengthy illness in the Lacombe Hospital, with her husband Eddie Jackson at her side.

Suzan is survived by her husband, Eddie Jackson; sons Sandi and Roy (Christina); grandchildren Barret, Call, Corbin, Austin and Hunter; siblings Joan Watt (John), Lewis Reid (Lupita), Heather Reid, Margo Reid (Harvey) and Robert Reid (Lynn).  She was predeceased by her parents, Louis and Margaret, brothers Ian and Jim.

Suzan immigrated to Sylvan Lake with her war bride mother in 1945, joining father Louis, establishing the family farm west of Bentley.

Suzan lived the majority of her life in and around Lacombe where she raised her children and established herself as a talented and prolific bronze sculptor.  As well as selling her art at shows across western Canada, she was commissioned by various cattle and horse associations to provide awards and sculptures to promote their breeds.  Another of her passions was her involvement with youth in 4H and pony clubs.  She will be sorely missed by the people whose live she touched in these endeavours.

A celebration of her life will be held at the Lacombe Legion Branch 79, 5138 - 49th Street, Lacombe, Alberta on Saturday, September 22, 2018 between 2:00 and 6:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Suzan's honor to the Lacombe Palliative Care Society, Box 5576, Lacombe, Alberta, T4L 1X2.
