Vera Kathleen GibsonSeptember 1, 2017
GIBSON, Vera Gibson (Willows) blessed us with her presence for 95 years, on September 1, 2017 she quietly passed away.
Vera was born May 26, 1922 in Whitla AB. She was the 8th of 12 children. Vera grew up around Millet and although they experienced many hard times, the stories she shared of her youth almost always brought a smile to your face.
Together with Jack Willows they raised 5 children. Farming in the Hoadley area for 30 years, during which time they were active members of the community and had many lifelong friends. The resourcefulness and hard work that Vera learnt as a child remained with her for her entire life. She always had a large garden, milked cows, drove the team, operated equipment, canned jars and jars of food and after all of that she cooked wonderful meals, sewed every ones clothes and created many wonderful craft projects.
Vera was a beautiful seamstress and created everything from simple projects to wedding gowns.
In 1986 she married Jack Gibson and together they truly enjoyed their senior years. They spent their time dancing, travelling and dancing some more.
After Jacks passing in 2007 Vera engrossed herself in her sewing. Many happy hours were spent at her sewing machine creating beautiful quilts for her loved ones.
Vera faced a great deal of adversity but even when her own heart was broken her compassion for others came first. Her loving hands cradled newborns, held the hand of the sick and wiped away tears. She loved a practical joke, she laughed with you and sometimes at you. Her door was always open, she welcomed you with open arms whether you had wonderful news or tears in your eyes she was always there for you. Her sense of humor remained until the very end. She rarely forgot a face and dearly enjoyed each and every visit.
Vera was predeceased by all of her siblings, two sons Allen and Wayne, Jack Willows, and her loving husband Jack Gibson.
