Wilfreida  (Freida) Harrison

It is with heavy hearts we announce that Freida is gone to heaven.

Freida as she was known was born at Clive, AB to Emma and Wilfred Brown the eldest of six children.

She loved living on the farm and had a beloved pony.  At the age of eight years her parents and her younger brother Ian moved to    Salmon Arm, B.C. where her grandparents resided.  Freida completed her schooling there, she was a good scholar and participated in sports.

After graduation, she worked at various jobs, and then moved to  Edmonton, A.B. where she was employed at The Hudson Bay Store.  In Edmonton Freida met her first husband Ray Place.  They were married in 1954.  Freida and Ray worked at a variety of jobs and in various places, finally settling in Rocky Mountain House A.B. where Ray died.  Freida loved to dance and it was at a dance in Sylvan Lake, AB where she first met Fred Harrison, a widower from Rimbey, A,B..  They were married in 1996 and they lived in Rimbey, A.B. their remaining years.  They made an ideal couple, very much in love.  They enjoyed so many things together, gardening, dancing, and involvement in the community.  They were long time members of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #36 and in the Rimbey    United Church.  Freida and Elmer Brown started “ The Jammers” in 1998 holding dances at the Rimbey Senior Drop In Centre each Tuesday evening.

After Fred’s passing in 2014, Freida became a resident of Area 3, Rimbey Hospital Long Term Residence where she remained until her passing.  Freida is survived by her sister Judy (Ed), Janzen of Sooke B.C. and her brother Ian (Flo) Brown of Kelowna B.C, as well as loving nieces and nephews and many wonderful caring friends.  With  respect to Frieda’s wishes no formal funeral will be held.

 A Celebration of Life for Freida will be held at the Rimbey Senior Drop In Center on Saturday November 2, 2019 at 2 pm.
