Alan Edward Johns

JOHNS, Alan Edward, beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 82 in Lacombe, Alberta.  He will be lovingly remembered by:  his three children and two grandchildren who he was very proud of; son Dale Johns of Edmonton, son Michael (Dawna and grandchildren Dallas and Austin) Johns of Sherwood Park and daughter Karen Johns of Vancouver; sister Betty (David) Ross of St. Bruno, Que. and sister-in-law Joan Johns of Lloydminster.  He was predeceased by: father Tom Johns, mother D. Ruth Johns and brother Roy Johns.  Alan was a long-time pillar of the community, having been an owner and then part-owner of Lacombe Agencies Ltd, as well as part-owner of businesses in both travel and real estate.  His tireless involvement in the community also included time helping with St. Andrew’s United Church, Lacombe Chamber of Commerce, Lacombe Kinsmen Club, Lacombe Minor Hockey, Lacombe Minor Baseball just to mention a few.  After retiring, he continued to give to others by volunteering his time and service to various organizations within the community including the Lacombe Seniors Lodge.  Alan loved to be outside and he spent a lot of time in his yard and garden, as well as walking or riding his bike around town.  Although he will be greatly missed by family and friends, we take comfort in knowing that he is with his Heavenly Father.  As per his request, there be no service for him and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: City of Lacombe Recreation & Culture Department (5432 56 Ave, Lacombe AB, T4L 1E9) or Lacombe Senior Citizens Lodge (c/o the Lacombe Foundation, 4622 C&E Trail, Lacombe AB, T4L 1M9) or Red Cross of Canada (www.redcross.ca) .
