It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Alfred Shaw after battling stomach cancer, in Lacombe AB on January 15,2024 at the age of 81.
Alfred is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Brenda, his son Douglas and daughter in law, Christina. His 6 grandchildren ; Angela (Adam), Matthew (Presley), Rebecca (Caleb),William, Kaden, and Ethan. His 2 great grandchildren; Oaklyn and Sylvie.
Alfred is predeceased by his father Alfred, mother Nita, and his brother Edward.
Alfred was born and raised in Vancouver, BC where he worked as a long haul truck driver, traveling all over Canada. He married his wife Brenda, in September 1973 and they had one son, Douglas. Al and Brenda just celebrated 50 years together in September. They had moved to Vancouver Island in 2011 where they fulfilled their dream of living by the ocean. They enjoyed traveling on cruises and visiting with their many wonderful friends and church family. They just recently relocated to Lacombe in December 2023 to live with their son and daughter in law so Al could live out the remainder of his days surrounded by family. He will be greatly missed and we know we will be reunited again one day in glory.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 22, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Redeemer United Reformed Church, 4519 46 Ave, Lacombe.
The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil:
for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
thou annointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
