Anna Vanhaastert Obituary

Anna readily developed deep bonds and lasting friendships. Her compassionate nature touched people’s hearts and lives. All who knew Anna were enriched by her joyful, spontaneous personality, and deep kindness. She will be dearly missed by many.

Anna is deeply missed by her loving family: Husband - Chris van Haastert. Children - Jos & Sherilyn, Alysa & Michael, Maia & Michael, and Kailan. Granddaughter - Oakley Joyanna. Parents - Jack and Alice Hielema Nicolai. Siblings - Murielle & Andrew, Jacky & Richard, Stanford & Monica. Nieces and Nephews - Shyam, Quinn, Charissa, James, Annelise, Jillian, Nicolai, Ciara and Jacob. And, numerous family and friends, in both Canada and The Netherlands

Anna was born in Bowmanville, Ontario. In 1970 the family immigrated to The Netherlands until 1978, when the family returned to Canada. Anna and Chris were married in 1984, and settled in Hoadley, Alberta. In 1996 the family moved to the acreage north of Rimbey. Anna was involved in the community and was an active member in the Rimbey Christian Reformed Church. Anna had an abiding faith in her Lord, deeply loved her family, and enjoyed the outdoors, music, books and theatre. 

A Private Family Celebration of Life was held on Friday March 27, 2020.
