Born on May 24, 1930, Anne grew up on a farm near Smoky Lake, AB. Although she loved school, in grade 8 she began work on the family farm to help support her parents and younger siblings. Thus began Anne's life of sacrificial love for family. Some years later she moved to Edmonton where she met Jim Green through a chance encounter. They were married October 18, 1952. In 1955 they made a home in Lacombe and raised their family together until Jim died suddenly in 1974.
Anne delighted in her family. "Grandma's House" became a favorite place for her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also passionate about gardening and generously gifted family and friends with fresh produce and home cooked meals.
Anne was a proud member of the Rebekah Lodge and greatly enjoyed organizing their annual public speaking events for youth. As a 40+ year cancer survivor, she mentored other cancer patients. Mom loved a bargain; she shared many laughs with good friends Eva and Irene as they searched through local garage sales.
Anne will be deeply missed by her children Loraine, Barry (Karen), Leanne (Harvey) and Colin (Janet), 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, sister Alice, and extended family.
She is predeceased by parents Bill and Mary Pirzek, step-father Peter Gawryluk, husband Jim, brothers Steve and Vic, and son-in-law Robert Martin.
Anne died peacefully surrounded by family on February 4, 2020 at Lacombe Hospital.
