Annie (Penner) Hill

The family announces the peaceful passing of Annie Hill at almost 103 years of age at the Lacombe Hospital on December 3rd, 2023. We celebrate Annie’s remarkable life which started in Russia on February 26, 1921.

Annie was born to Peter and Katherina Penner in Orenburg, Russia. The family emigrated to Canada in 1926 and settled in Castor, Alberta. She married Clarence Hill on March 5th, 1945, and they farmed at Clive, Alberta. After 66 years of marriage Clarence passed away in 2011. Annie moved to the Lacombe Seniors Lodge in 2012 and resided there until her passing.

Annie was predeceased by her parents, husband Clarence, son-in-law Tim Akins, 1 sister, 3 brothers, 2 sisters-in-law, and 4 brothers-in-law. She is survived by her three children Carol Akins, Jim Hill (Lesley), and Doug Hill (Phyllis), 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 5 sisters, 2 brothers, 1 sister-in-law, 1 brother-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

Annie had very few sick days throughout her life, looked after herself until she went into the hospital on Friday and passed away on Sunday night.

To celebrate Annie’s life, a private family graveside service will take place. Friends and extended family are invited to join Annie’s family for a luncheon at Wison’s Funeral Chapel (6120 Hwy 2A, Lacombe) on Friday, December 8, 2023 starting at 12:30pm.
