It is with great sadness that the family of Annie May Smith announce her passing in Lacombe Hospital on November 6, 2021, at the age of 99 years.
May was born at home on her parents Walter and Jessie Whitecotton’s farm on September 14, 1922. She was the second of seven children and attended school at Iowalta and Lacombe.
On June 19, 1943, May married Charles Howard Smith at her parent's farm. They were married for 58 years and had four children. She was a member of the Iowalta Needlecraft, leader of the 4-H Clothing Club and an active Kozy Korner member. She loved having tea, visiting and spending time with her cherished grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, baking bread, playing cards, sewing, embroidering and crocheting. We all have one or more of her beautiful works of art to treasure.
May is survived by her siblings: Smoke, Evelyn and Loren; her four children: Elaine (Robert), Marlaine (Mario), Terry (Maureen) and Darryl (Nancy); 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband Howard, infant brother Willie, brother Roy, sister June and granddaughter Marla.
