Arnold Mark Wapple
April 24, 1939 - January 10, 2026
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Arnold Mark Wapple. Arnold passed away peacefully at his home in the Royal Oaks Village in Lacombe, Alberta on January 10, 2026 at the age of 86.
Arnold was born on April 24, 1939, in Sherridon, Manitoba, to Fred and Olive Wapple. In 1943, the family moved to Marengo, Saskatchewan, and later to a farm west of Kindersley. In 1953, they relocated to a second farm east of Kindersley. During the mid-1950s, the family spent winters in town and summers on the farm. Arnold attended elementary school at Clover Hill and later Mackenzie High School in Kindersley.
Arnold married Judith Cameron in 1958 in Brock, Saskatchewan, and together they had four children. They lived on her parents, Wes and Grace Cameron’s farm near Madison from 1959 to 1961, where Arnold worked. In 1961, he began farming on his own east of Kindersley. In 1971, he joined the Case Power and Equipment sales team and eventually, in 1973, moved to Drumheller, Alberta where he became the store manager. He worked in Duncan, British Columbia, Lethbridge, Calgary and Red Deer until 1989.
Arnold later married Karen Harker and worked as a salesman for various farm equipment dealerships in Barrhead, Sedgewick and Vegreville. Arnold and Karen lived in Sylvan Lake and then settled in Lavoy, AB. He also worked for LCE out of Kansas City and ended his career with Flaman Rentals in Nisku. He retired at the age of 70. He traveled across much of North America over the years for work, and enjoyed the experiences and friendships made along the way.
Arnold and Karen enjoyed spending winters in South Padre Island, Texas, and working in their yard and garden in the summers. Arnold had a passion for camping, skiing, golfing, long-distance walking with his neighbour’s dogs, and watching professional sports — especially the CFL — and maintained a keen interest in history and politics. He was an avid reader and also passionate about bird watching, attracting them to his yard, and recording their patterns and sightings. He especially loved his hummingbirds. His dogs, BJ and Cuddles, had a very special place in his heart.
Arnold will be remembered for his wit, sense of humour, energy and sharp mind.
Arnold is survived by his children Dean (Kim) Wapple, Shelley (Kevin) Blanchett, Wes Wapple, and Marie (Derek) Wade; stepchildren Leslie (Normand), Todd and Kurtis and their children Spencer, Chandler and Koral; grandchildren Nicole, Alisha, Jordan, Amie, Katie, Kacey, Andrew, Kristy, and their spouses; eight great grandchildren; his brother John (Sandra) Wapple , his sister Sharon (Dan) Roberts, numerous nieces and nephews, other extended family and friends.
He cherished relationships with many neighbours over the years and his niece Tammy Renz.
Arnold was predeceased by his parents Fred and Olive Wapple; his wives Judy and Karen; his brothers Fred, Melvin and Patrick; and his sisters Patricia Hertz and Darlene Renz.
Special thanks to the hospital staff in Vegreville and the care center staff at the Royal Oaks Village in Lacombe.
