Barry Gerald Stymiest Obituary

Barry Gerald Stymiest

It is with great sadness that the family of Barry Gerald Stymiest, formerly of Tabusintac New Brunswick wishes to announce that he passed away peacefully in Wetaskiwin Alberta on March 16, 2026 at the age of 69.

Barry is survived by his children Barry Jr, Jason (Jessica), Grandchildren Izabella and Korbyn. Siblings Lorne (Twila), Terrance (Marcia), Dennis (Mary), Greta (Marvin), many nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.

Barry is predeceased by his wife Simone, Parents Earl and Isabella, Brother Bobby, Brother Jim, and Sister Beryl Ann.

Barry spent most of his adult life living in Alberta, with his wife Simone when they left New Brunswick. He enjoyed the outdoors and always said fall was his favourite time of year. He spent a lot of his spare time building things and tinkering and loved hunting. He was an astute tradesman and a hard worker.

Going by Barry's wishes there was no funeral or viewing. However the family would like to have a grave site service when he is laid to rest at a later date for those who may want to pay their respects. Barry asked to have his ashes placed next to his predeceased wife Simone in New Brunswick at the Saint Louis cemetery in Brantville.

The family would like to thank the people of the Peace Hills Lodge in Wetaskiwin and all of the health care professionals who assisted Barry.

Gone Hunting

Remember the smiles and not the tears

For all the hunts throughout the years

Don’t dwell on things left unsaid

Cherish the memories we had instead

Like the crisp mornings and dusky nights

A trophy buck within our sights

Deer camp with friends and family

These moments meant so much to me

When peace from nature all around

Was shattered by a sudden sound

I always hoped your aim was true

And smiled with pride for all of you

So don’t cry for me because life is done

Stalking the fields has just begun

Come fall may smiles adorn your face

Knowing I’ve gone hunting….

In a better place
