Brett Monteith Obituary

MONTEITH, Brett Philip

1960 - 2021

Brett was born in Red Deer to Virgil and Margaret Monteith on May 20, 1960, the second youngest of seven children. He was raised in various communities around Central Alberta (Red Deer, Rimbey, Eckville, Blackfalds). He was united in marriage to Karen Canniff on June 23, 1984 and they had three children. Brett worked in the oil field and later became a truck driver for the balance of his career. Brett enjoyed many pastimes, riding/working with horses, working on vehicles, quadding, mud bogging in borrowed cars (LOL), camping out with family and the annual July ‘boys’ weekend, hockey, golfing, ball, curling with three of his siblings, carpentry and working the land. Brett loved and was proud of his children and grandchildren.  Brett and Karen resided in Blackfalds and later moved to Peace River. He eventually moved back to Blackfalds where he resided until his passing.

Brett is survived by his children: Angela (Ryan) Schmul and Scott both of Edmonton, and Bret Blaydes of Blackfalds. He is also survived and will be greatly missed by his loving brother and best friend Wade Monteith of Blackfalds, his three sisters Cathey Monteith, Pam McDonagh and Jackie Cross, all of Red Deer, as well as, the grandchildren he adored (Cooper, Lincoln, Montana, Rylan, Olivia and Finn); in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. Brett was predeceased by his Mom and Dad, brother Rick, sister Raye Dahms; brothers-in-law Allan Cross, Brian McDonagh and Calvin Dahms, and one nephew Terence Cross.

A very special thanks to the staff at the Lacombe Hospital for their kindness and compassion through this time.
