Brian Arthur Moebes

It is with great sadness that the family of Brian Arthur Moebes of Iola, Alberta passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully at home at the age of 68 years old.

Brian is survived by his loving wife Patricia Gail (Thiessen) of 45 years. They had three children: Trevor Moebes, Vernnon Moebes (Lea-Ann Hurley) and Gail Cornell (Derek Cornell). Grandchildren; Sarah and Erik Cornell; Kaelyn and Brayden Moebes; Zachery, Sahara and Sage Moebes.

Brian is predeceased by his parents Arthur “Art” Moebes (2005) and Sylvia “Goldie” Moebes nee Fowler (1985).

Brian left school in grade 8 when his father had open heart surgery to work on the farm and help his parents. After his dad recovered Brian worked for several different trucking companies, his uncle Bill Fowler was the main one. He also worked for a number of different oilfield companies; Challenger Drilling being the main company he worked for.

Brian fell in love with the girl next door, and they were married in April of 1979. Having their first child, Trevor, was born prematurely in August of that year. Brian started work for Ponoka County shortly after they were married and they welcomed another son, Vernnon, in 1983 and soon after in 1985 they welcomed their daughter Gail. During these years they lived on the Moebes Farm with Brian’s parents then moved into Bluffton in 1990. Brian developed Bronchitis Pneumonia in 1991 and lost his job with the County. When he regained his health and strength he took the leap and started his own Backhoe service who we all know to be Mobey’s Backhoe Service. When Brian had his by-pass surgery in 2005 he retired the backhoe but he always talked about how he would like to buy another. He filled that hole with tractors instead. For anyone that knew him, you knew that what you see was what you got. Brian enjoyed going for coffee with his friends and not sure if he enjoyed working on the equipment but he sure was fixing a lot. Brian loved his grandchildren and talked about the many adventures he wanted to do with them.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the Hoadley Community Hall.
