Carl "Evans" Carson Obituary

CARSON, Evans

March 15, 1923 to April 11, 2020

Evans Carson was born March 15, 1923 and was the oldest of 6 children to Cleve and Bella Carson. He met and married Myrtle Ing in 1943, just before going overseas in World War II. After the war, they settled in the Clive area, where they farmed for about 40 years before retiring to Lacombe. Evans also spent many years operating oil well batteries and made many friends in that industry.

Evans loved sports. He was active in competitive baseball (both playing and coaching), curling, horseshoes, slow-pitch and bowling. Myrtle was his biggest supporter and fan. They travelled to tournaments, participated in Senior Games, and loved both the sports and the friends they made.

Evans was very active in the Legion from shortly after the war until his death. He was a lifetime member and received several awards. He was also named Citizen of the Year, both in Clive and in Lacombe. He was involved with Kozy Korner for many years.

Evans and Myrtle travelled extensively going to the Caribbean, around the USA, to Europe and they went to Holland to commemorate 50 years after the liberation there.

Evans was predeceased by his parents and four brothers. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 77 years, Myrtle; his daughter Shirley (Dave); his sons Duane (Marilyn) and Rick (Sandy); 4 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and step great grandchildren and 2great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Fern and by a large extended family of nieces and nephews.

Evans was nicknamed Lucky which is evident by his full and well lived life.

A small private family service was held in Lacombe. A celebration of Evan’s life will be held at a later date.

Donations may be made to the Lacombe Continuing Care Foundation at Lacombe Health Trust, www.albertahealthservices.ca or 5430 - 47th Avenue, Lacombe, Alberta T4L 1G8 or charity of your choice.
