CHARLES RONALD PATTERSON

1931 - 2023

The family of Charles Ronald Patterson announce his peaceful passing at the Royal Oak Village, Lacombe, Alberta on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at the age of 91 years.

Charles Ronald Patterson was born July 20, 1931, in Luseland, Saskatchewan to Cyril and Sarah Patterson.

He met Edith Slopianka in Three Hills, Alberta and they were married on September 19, 1952. They moved to Lacombe in 1954, where Charles worked for Ferguson Motors until he started Charles’ Country Service in 1965. In 1969, Charles and Edith bought the acreage across the road from where they were living. They built a new home and moved the shop, where Charles continued to work until he was 75 years old.

Charles loved to fish and had built his own boat. There were many fishing trips to Beaver Lake, often with other families to get their yearly supply of fish. Their early camping trips began with a home-built trailer with a tarp to cover it. He then built a camper and went along with Edith’s ideas of camping.

Charles and Edith were some of the earliest founding members of the Calvary Evangelical Free Church in Lacombe. They were involved in various positions with Charles being instrumental in leading Christian Service Brigade.

Charles is survived by his wife of 70 years, Edith and their children:  Corrine (Bob) Graden, Norman (Linda) Patterson, Donald (Beverly) Patterson, Valerie (David) Regnier, Allen (Heather) Patterson, Sandra (Kevin) Wiebe, Bruce (Sandy) Patterson, 17 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Mary Watson, Margaret Hazel, David (Lois) Patterson, Gordon (Peggy) Patterson, Tom (Sharon) Bozzard, Art (Lisa) Bozzard, Ray (Diane) Bozzard, Sarah (Morris) Cave, Paul (Sheryl) Patterson, Ruth Trekans (Alfredo) and sister-in-law Ann Patterson.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Rupert Patterson and Mark Patterson and sister, Joyce Reid, brothers- in-law, David Watson, Stan Hazel, Robert Reid and sister-in-law, Fran Patterson.
