1975 – 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Christopher James Karpiak.  Chris passed at his home in Lacombe, March 9th 2023 at the age of 47.

Chris is survived by his sons Kaizen (15) and Ari (12), their mother Corinne Cressman, his parents and step parents; Josephine Shutty and Eric Stanley, Ken Karpiak and Fran Karpiak, his sister Samantha Cortan, his grandmother Mildred Shutty and a large and loving extended family.

Chris was born May 5, 1975 in the Fort St. John Hospital.  At the age of 3 he moved to Burnaby with his mother where he went to school and started working in electronics.  Later he moved back to Fort St. John, became a millwright and started working in the oil fields.  It is in the oil fields that he met Corinne and they had two sons in Fort St. John.   Latter work changes would have him move to Lacombe. 

Chris was spontaneous and his fun loving personality and humor was always evident. He had very witty remarks and playful words, usually had his big smile beaming and was quick to laughter. He had gratitude towards those who cared for him, including his family and friends; he will be greatly and forever missed. We feel robbed of the memories that we had yet to make with him and are ever so grateful for the time and cherished memories that we were blessed with in his larger than life presence.

Chris loved the outdoors and adventure from camping and riding mountain bikes as a child, to camping and ATVs as an adult.  Chris was always quick to help others be it with a move, fixing a vehicle, or home repairs.  His mechanical know how made him the go to person for help when something broke down or was not working quite right.  He will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
