Christopher 'Chris' Frederick Baehl

It is with great sadness the family of Christopher Frederick Baehl announces his passing on September 19th, 2025 in Calgary, Alberta. Chris was born on November 26th, 1980 in Wetaskiwin Alberta to Fred and Lavonne Baehl, where he grew up on the family’s dairy farm. From a young age he learned the value of hard work from his Grandfather Jacques, Grandmother Emmy, Uncle Peter, and his Father Fred and Mother Lavonne. Whether it was feeding calves, milking cows, hauling manure, or doing whatever needed to be done, Chris did so with an admirable work ethic. Chris attended Elementary School at Lakedell and attended Pigeon Lake Regional High School.

Chris carried that strong work ethic throughout his life and into his career in the oilpatch. He started out working for his uncle at Mikes Oilfield, alongside his cousins Lonny and Shane Baehl. Soon after, he started working on the oil rigs, moving up the ranks very fast and eventually became one of the most well known drilling superintendents in the industry.  Admired for his knowledge, leadership, and determination he gained the respect of colleagues across the field.

Family was always at the center focus of Chris’s life. He is survived by his two daughters, Brooke and Taylor, who were his greatest pride and joy as well as their loving mother Nicole. He shared countless adventures with them and always encouraged making the best of every moment. He was a beloved son to Fred and Lavonne, a big brother to Kurtis (Jodi), and a cherished uncle to Sydney and Brayden. He will also be remembered by numerous extended family and an abundance of friends.

Chris is predeceased by his grandparents Albert and Edna Tabler, and Jacques and Emmy Baehl.

Outside of work, Chris found joy in dirt biking, golfing, playing hockey, time with family, and creating fun wherever he went. His drive, humor, and big heart left an impression on everyone who knew him.

Chris’s legacy is one of grit, perseverance, and love for family. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.

A Celebration Of Life for Chris will take place at the Lacombe Memorial Centre on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at 2:00 pm
