Dale Albers Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Dale Albers announces the passing of their father, grandfather, brother, uncle & friend.

Dale was born in Lacombe, AB to Ross Conrad Albers and Doris (nee Stevens) Albers of the Gadsby Lake District in the Bashaw/Mirror area. He had one older sister Deborah Anne (nee Albers) Heidt.  Dale grew up on the farm, with his parent’s farming alongside his mother’s family, which included his two great-aunts Jacko and Patchy Gadsby.

Dale was married in 1970 and his life was forever changed with the birth of his daughter, Doreen Marie Albers. Dale would divorce but would become lifelong friends with Norman Brown, Doreen’s stepdad.

Dale worked most of his life running heavy equipment. This included working on the road crew that rebuilt the Gadsby Lake road in front of his parent’s place.  He would go on to spend many years working in the Provost area running Cat to open and level well sites. Dale met the woman that would become his partner in life, Bonnie Taillieur, while working in Saskatchewan.  Dale and Bonnie built a life together, first in Saskatoon and then moving to Hughenden, AB.  They had Dale’s second daughter Doris Elveen Albers.  Bonnie brought into his life his stepdaughter Jillian, and stepson Ryon, along with a large extended family (Bonnie was one of nine kids). For most of the following years, they lived in Hughenden, AB and Dale worked around the AB/SK border.  In 2009 he, Bonnie and Doris moved back to the family farm, helping his aging parents, and within a few years he retired.

He had a few good friends who often shared his interest in the outdoors and hunting. There are many stories of Dale and his friends in their wayward youth.  Dale was always interested in a good gun or ammo, and like his Dad, he loved cars and trucks or anything mechanical that might need fixing.  He liked to make things out of nothing, usually just starting with scrap iron.

As a boy, he had a small motorbike and that bike became his mode of transportation around the district to visit friends and cousins.  But every evening he had to be home in time to milk the cows. Once in a while, he would ride one of the family horses, especially if it was time to help Dad round up the cows and calves and move them to a new pasture, but his preference would have been something with a motor.  That motorbike was the start of all the trucks, quads, snowmobiles, agros and boats that were all an important part of his life.

Dale would develop COPD, this disease would eventually curtail many of his outdoor activities.  It would be this disease and the many complications resulting from it that would take his life.  As sad as we are to have lost Dale, he is now again with Bonnie, his beloved deaf dog Freddy and his dad. Dale in his later years was a man of few words, he had a presence about him, a quiet giant and he meant something different and special to each of those that loved him or called him a friend.

Dale is survived by; his daughters Doreen and her husband Mike Hayes, Doris and her partner Charlie Bjorgan, Doreen’s children Joey (Colin) Felt, Darrell (Jordan) Felt and Alyssa Hayes, his stepdaughter Jillian Taillieur, and his stepson Ryon’s son Leon Taillieur, his sister Deborah (nee Albers) Heidt and her two girls Vicki and Sheila Heidt.

Dale was predeceased by his parents, Ross and Doris Albers, his partner Bonnie Taillieur and his stepson Ryon Taillieur.
