Dale George Wedlund

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dale Wedlund on June 18, 2025 at the Lacombe hospital and care centre, at the age of 67. 

Dale was born on March 3, 1958 at the Lacombe Hospital and grew up on his family's farm southwest of Crestomere. He attended the Crestomere school and Ponoka Composite high school, graduating in 1976. After high school Dale briefly lived in Edmonton while working at a petrochemical plant. He returned to Crestomere and purchased the family farm from his parents in 1978. Dale married his wife Susan in 1981. Through their years together they continued farming while raising their 5 children. 

Dale was interested in many things through his life and had many occupations over the years including being a plumber, gas fitter, backhoe operator, precast concrete, beef and hog farming. Although diagnosed with MS at an early age he kept busy until forced to retire from active farming, but even then, he was consistently working on various projects. 

Although his advancing MS forced him into long term care at the relatively young age of 59, he continued to leave a special mark on all the people he met. 

Dale is survived by his wife Susan, Daughters Allison Goodwin (Anthony Goodwin), Bobbi Wedlund (Wade Kelly) Kelsey Wedlund (Codi Huber) and his son Travis Wedlund (Taylor Andrews). His 7 grandchildren, Nixon and Keely Goodwin, Ashlyn, Molly, and Ava Kelly, Luka and Jax Huber. He is also survived by his brother Dennis Wedlund, his sister Marie Meldrum and numerous nieces, nephews, in laws, cousins and other extended family members.

Dale was predeceased by his son Trevor Wedlund, Parents Paul and Muriel Wedlund, brother Lorne Wedlund, sister Eileen Holtkamp, brothers in law Clarence Holtkamp and Lynn Meldrum, and father-in-law Gordon Spreadbury. 

Dale's family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Lacombe Long term care for the incredible, kind and compassionate care they provided to Dale over the last 8 years.

It brings his family great peace knowing that Dale is reunited with his son Trevor once again in heaven. 

Dale's memorial service will be held at Meadowbrook Church on June 25, 2025 at 1 pm followed by a luncheon.
