Darlene Hazel (Kober) Matthies

It is with great sadness, the family of Darlene Hazel Matthies (nee Kober) of Blackfalds, AB announce her peaceful passing on June 6th, 2024, at the Red Deer Hospice. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend to many. Darlene is survived by her loving husband, Klaus; children Thomas (Kathy), Dana (Kevin), and Karin (Daryll); and grandchildren Liam, Nicholas, Carter, Veronica, Morgan, and Catalina. She is predeceased by her father Theodore; mother, Valda; and sister, Sandra.

Darlene was a lover of children, animals, nature, and the sun on her face. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and was always happy with one of her many pets by her side. She was the bright light in every room.

Special thanks go to the staff and volunteers at Red Deer Hospice Society who cared for her in her last days.
