With sorrow in our hearts, we must announce that David Hallam, 60, has passed away in Breton, Alberta.
David, known by many as Hippy Dave, was born and spent his youth in Calgary, Alberta. As a young adult, David discovered the joy of travel and spent many years travelling the world making enduring friendships. He was not your 5-star hotel tourist; instead, he would be away for many months, with only his backpack and passport, staying in international hostels and mingling with the locals.
Back at home, David was known as an avid birder, a history buff, and a great person to share a conversation over coffee. He was a long-time resident of Breton and proud to call it his home.
He is survived by his sisters Jane Smyth, Shirley (Randy) Milnes, and Donna Simmers; his sister-in-law Marilyn Hallam; his stepbrothers Doug (Cindy) Plantz and Mike Plantz, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, George Hallam.
David was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by his family at home and the family he made around the world.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the Breton Community Centre.
