David Roberton Kay
1926 - 2022
It is with sadness that the family of Mr. David Robertson Kay announce his peaceful passing on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at the Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre at the age of 95 years.
David is survived by his loving wife, Alma, his children: Alan Kay, Dale (Debbie) Kay, Cheryl Kay and Brian Kay. Grandchildren: Curtis Kay, Jodie Kay, Julie Kay, Ashley (Colin) Niziol, Daniel (Jada) Kuhnen, and Matthew (Colleen) Kuhnen. He is also survived by Ruby, Chase, Nolan, Lucy, Colton, Izabella, Samual, Alexander, Emmerson, Maxen, Ellery, Esmee, Isla and Bridget.
David is predeceased by his parents Benjamin Reid Kay and Agnus Rutherford Robertson, his sister Elizabeth and brothers Bert, Jack and Morgan.
David and Alma met in North Portal, Saskatchewan where both of their families farmed. David left the family farm and got his welding certification at Moose Jaw Tech.
David and Alma were married in 1952. David’s trade took him, Alma and their growing family across Canada welding pipeline and working in the oil and gas industry. When the kids were school age David and Alma settled in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan where David went to work for Trans Canada pipelines. They moved the family to Lacombe in 1969 and David continued to pipeline till his retirement.
David loved his guitar and played at many barn dances accompanied by his brother Morgan on the fiddle.
David and Alma shared a love of gardening together always puttering in their large yard till they moved into their condo at the Peppertree.
