Dawn Shirley (MacKenzie) Parent

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dawn Shirley Parent, a devoted wife, cherished mother, beloved grandma, caring sister, endearing aunt, loyal friend and pillar of her community. Dawn left us peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 3, 2025.

She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity and an unwavering devotion to those Dawn held dear.

Dawn is survived by her husband of Bernie, son Stephen (Melanie) and grandchildren Jordyn, MacKenzie, Brenna, Raeghan and Dorien.

Dawn's heart was as expansive as the prairie skies – always open and always giving. She loved her family fiercely and unconditionally with her home a sanctuary of warmth, laughter and support. Whether it was a shoulder to cry on, a simple conversation, a meal to share or words of encouragement; Dawn gave of herself freely and without hesitation. As the matriarch, she was the cornerstone of her family – always present with unwavering love, guidance and support. Nothing brought her more joy than being surrounded by her dear ones celebrating milestones big and small or simply sharing a laugh around the table, living room or her campfire.

Dawn’s impact extended far beyond her family. She was a tireless supporter of her community, known for her volunteer work, her compassionate spirit and her ability to bring people together. She believed in showing up – whether for a neighbour in need, a local fundraiser or simply to lend a hand where it was needed most. Her presence was a gift, and her absence will deeply be felt by all that knew her.

To know my Mom was to know love in action, she lived with grace, led with empathy and taught us all the value of kindness. Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in the countless lives she touched and the beautiful memories she leaves behind.

Mom will be forever remembered by her adoring family, who will carry out her spirit forward with pride and gratitude. Her legacy is one of love, service, and a heart that never stopped giving.

Rest well Mom. You were truly one of a kind. We will look for you in every beautiful sunset we see.

A Celebration of Dawn's Life will be held at the Lacombe Memorial Centre on Monday, September 22, 2025 at 1:00 pm
