Dirk Charles Prins

It is with sadness the family of Dirk Charles Prins of Lacombe, Alberta, announce his sudden passing on September 26, 2024, at the age of 80.

Dirk was born in England and moved to Canada at the age of 2.  Dirk grew up on the family farm just outside of Lacombe and eventually took over the farm in 1969.  He continued farming up until his recent move into town.  Dirk married Leni on July 29, 1967, and together they raised five children.  Dirk had a great sense of humor and loved to make everyone laugh. He especially liked to tease his grandchildren.

Dirk is survived by his loving wife, Leni, of 57 years and daughter, Denise (Allan), Janelle and Austin, Alec and Jemylou; Son, Greg (Susan), Bowen and Krystal, Peyton and Brandon, Tavia and Steven; Daughter, Michelle (Rob), Paige and Drayden; Daughter, Sharleen (Brenden), Kai and Jin; and Son, Jason (Melissa), Gage and Jaida.  Also six great grandchildren, Charlie, Allie, Brooks, Nash, Wyatt and Blake, as well as numerous extended family and an abundance of friends.  Dirk was an only child and was predeceased by his parents Dick and Miranda Prins.

A Funeral Service will be held at Woody Nook Christian Reformed Church on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at 2:00 pm with interment to follow.  Refreshments will be served.
