Donald "Don" Pallin Obituary

Donald W. Pallin
1955 – 2020

Don was born April 19th , 1955 to Christine (Dolly) and Leslie (Les) Pallin, in Red Deer, AB. On May 15th, 1974 he married Marilyn Young.

Don loved to travel and as a young man spent a year going across Canada, into the US and Mexico.  Other memorable places he visited and experienced were an anniversary cruise with Marilyn to Alaska, work took him to both Brazil and Africa, and a wedding in Mexico were some of the highlights.

Don also had a love of cars. He owned too many cars to count over his lifetime. His favorites, however, were his 2005 Red Corvette, a 1972 Chevelle, and a 1969 Camaro. Whether driving them or spending hours tinkering and fixing them – they were things that made him truly happy.

He was a hard worker and spent over 35 years in the Oil Industry. He made many close friends over the course of his long career. One of those friendships spanned over 30 years. Darwin McDonald was a treasured friend and together they endured many highs and lows.

Summers with Don were spent camping, fishing, at airshows and car shows. He could spend hours checking out all the details on every car he seen. He could pick out with a keen eye what was original and what was not.

As much as he loved cars – his heart belonged to his three grandchildren. He had loved being a father to his two kids, but the grandkids were a whole new level of love. Hugs, cuddles, and time spent together with them brought him incredible joy.

Don will be lovingly remembered by Marilyn, his wife and best friend of 46 years; son, Stephen, daughter April and her husband Chris Kanten. He will be missed by his three grandchildren: Emily, Aubree, and Ashton Kanten.

He is also survived by his father and mother in law, Albert and Laura Young. He leaves behind a large extended family of sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

There will be an intimate family service held at Don's Graveside.  All are cordially invited by the family to the Westerner Park, "Chalet", 4847A - 19 Street, Red Deer on Friday, September 4, 2020 between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. to meet with the family and to share your memories of Don.
